PREPAID TICKET ORDERS (SECTION 10)

Prepaid ticket orders are tickets paid at one location and picked up at another. The selling location must use the fare that applies from the passenger's origin. This is not necessarily the same fare that applies from the purchaser's location.

Fares for interstate PTOs will be determined using the mileage table in this section for the passenger's origin, not for the selling location. (This may or may not be the same table of fares.) City-pair reduced fares may be used if known.

Fares for intrastate PTOs will be determined using the current intrastate fare, mileage or city-pair.

The PTO is transmitted by TRIPS or telephone to the passenger's origin. For this service a fee will be charged. For fee, see Schedule of Fees.

The purchaser may also send a cash advance with the ticket. The cash advance can be up to ½ the cost of the transportation, but not more than $50 per person. The cash advance portion of any PTO must be paid in cash only. For multiple ticket PTOs the cash advance is limited to $100 per transaction or ½ the transportation value which ever is less.

No discounts will apply to prepaid ticket sales for senior citizens, military personnel, students, or other similar groups of passengers. Children's fares may be sold subject to rules governing children's fares.

Proof of identity and passenger's signature are required to pick up the PTO. No exceptions.

PTO tickets must be marked "No Refund" and include the PTO number.

Upon receipt of a PTO, the ticket agent will try to contact the passenger. If the PTO cannot be delivered after 10 days, the agent will send it to the General Office of the carrier originating the PTO.

All rules and regulations applicable to the fare used for the sale of a PTO will also apply to the PTO, i.e., ticket limits, restrictions, cancelation penalties, etc.

All refunds on undelivered PTOs will be made through the General Office of the carrier originating the PTO. Application for refund must be accompanied by the purchaser's receipt. Refund will be made to the original purchaser only.

PTOs sold from or to points in Canada will be sold in US currency.

Prepaid tickets may be sold using any walk-up fare (mileage-based or city-pair) unless a fare specifically prohibits the sale of prepaid tickets. Follow the links below to determine appropriate fare.

PTO services are not extended to pass holders. This includes employee passes and/or buddy passes.
